India: United Breweries reported 2Q 2006 net income increased by 225%
United Breweries has reported a 225% increase in its net profit to Rs 13.2 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2006. Gross sales have grown 117% to Rs 343.78 crore for the second quarter, Business Standard posted October 26.
Kalyan Ganguly, MD, United Breweries attributed this spurt in net and topline to the huge growth in North Indian markets especially Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
"The auction system was done was with in this region and duties were rationalised. This has resulted in many more retail outlets coming into the picture. The prices too dropped which resulted in gross realisation moving up 35%," he added.
